Meet Bayli: An Apprenticeship Journey in Early Years Education at Hopscotch Seaford

At Hopscotch Children's Nurseries, we’re proud to support apprentices like Bayli, who are learning, growing, and making a real difference in the lives of children. Bayli is an apprentice at our Seaford nursery, and we wanted to take a moment to spotlight her journey and hear about her experiences.
1. Why did you choose an apprenticeship in Early Years?
"I’ve always been passionate about working with children, and I felt an apprenticeship was the best way for me to gain hands-on experience while studying. It allows me to learn directly from experts and apply what I’ve learned in a real-world setting, which has been incredibly rewarding."
2. What does a typical day at the nursery look like for you?
"A typical day for me at Hopscotch starts with preparing the environment for the children. I then support the children through play, guiding them through various activities such as arts and crafts, sensory play, and outdoor exploration. I love being involved in all aspects of their development throughout the day."
3. What’s your favourite part of the day?
"My favourite part of the day has to be garden time. Watching the children play and explore outside, developing their physical skills and enjoying nature, is always a highlight for me. It’s great to see them having fun and learning at the same time!"
4. What do you enjoy most about working with children?
"I find it incredibly rewarding to see the children grow, develop, and discover new things. Every day is different, and each moment feels like an opportunity to help them build new skills, whether it’s something big or small. The joy on their faces when they learn something new is priceless!"
5. Would you recommend doing an apprenticeship? Why?
"Absolutely! An apprenticeship offers the perfect balance of practical experience and classroom learning. You’re not just reading about child development; you’re seeing it happen firsthand. It’s an ideal way to start a career in Early Years, and I feel like I’m constantly learning and growing, which is fantastic."
6. Can you share your fondest memory so far at Hopscotch?
"One of my fondest memories was when one of the children, who was initially quite shy, started to engage more with the group after a few weeks. It was such a rewarding moment to see them open up and develop confidence. It showed me how much of an impact we can have as educators."
7. Where do you see yourself professionally in five years, and do you think that’s achievable at Hopscotch?
"In five years, I see myself as a qualified Early Years Practitioner, continuing to work with children and supporting their development. I definitely think this is achievable at Hopscotch, as the opportunities for growth and training here are endless. I’m excited to see where my journey will take me!"
We’re so proud of Bayli’s journey and the positive impact she’s making every day at Hopscotch. Her dedication, passion, and willingness to learn are qualities we highly value in all our apprentices. If you’re considering a career in Early Years, Bayli’s story is a great example of how an apprenticeship at Hopscotch can help you grow both professionally and personally.
